I mean if it's a self selected intentional alteration, that's not the same as someone who has trouble losing weight or who was born with a deformity. She paid money to another person, to alter the way she looks. The criticism she draws was chosen.

    Interesting question, is the surgery itself the result of a reaction to the patriarchal standards (as in she is attempting to alter herself due to those external pressures), or is it upholding the patriarchal standards to "shame" (which I suppose in this context means "have a negative opinion or joke about") them for their choices? And if it is the former, is it still the latter because it is the former?

    Truly the "chicken or egg" of our time.

    In any case, I will never understand people going crazy with plastic surgery regardless of their reason. Unless they can give me a prehensile tail or the arm from the old Ballpark Franks commercials, then we can talk.
