MODERATORS
In writing these redundancys are used to make the text feel more natural and to remove any ambiguity.
Without any context "my soles hurt" could mean that the soles of my feet are in pain, my shoes fit badly and the soles hurt me, or it could be a threath "im going to stomp you with the bottom of my feet"
I used to work in public health. I'd heard medical professionals using those terms and wonder.
They were talking about patients so the context was there already.
