Trump's handlers will only be able to talk him out of it for so long. Frankly, I'm surprised Trump didn't start the war with a nuke permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 15 points 4 months ago (1 child) And I thought Holden died recently. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] new_world_odor@lemmy.world 13 points 4 months ago He's been succeeded by Michael. permalink fedilink source parent [–] northendtrooper@lemmy.ca 25 points 4 months ago* (2 children) Feel like we're going to be testing this today. https://www.brokentoys.org/suddenly-applicable-history-major-harold-hering-asks-the-wrong-right-question-2/ permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] nkat2112@sh.itjust.works 12 points 4 months ago Thank you for sharing this. I found it very touching - especially his response when he was tracked down years later and reflected on the moment he asked the question: "... I think it's an affront to play the game of "you don't have the 'need to know'" for someone who's doing one of the most serious, grave jobs that there is in the armed forces. I have to say, I feel I do have a need to know, because I am a human being. It is inherent in an officer’s commission that he has to do what is right in terms of the needs of the nation despite any orders to the contrary. You really don’t know at the time of key turning, whether you are complying with your oath of office. I am left with a deep and growing hunger for peace among people at every level. It seems urgent to me that we find ways to become a more tolerant and forgiving people. Perhaps, I was not a good match for duty as a missile launch officer.” Such a very good man. permalink fedilink source parent [–] daychilde@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago I humbly suggest that the only truly sane launch officer is the one who would refuse to launch nukes. permalink fedilink source parent [–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 months ago I do not think he will drop a nuke, what he will do is hit any Iranian uranium to make a dirty bomb of sorts. Israel on the other hand, they will drop a nuke if they think they can. They are that Reckless. permalink fedilink source parent
