I am just baffled how a democratic country could give such powers to a single person. A president shouldnt be able to pardon anyone.

People from other countries have a hard time understanding that our constitution is 240 years old. It was written at a time when a government literally couldn't have such power.

Are you saying the Constitution wasn't originally written in a way that it afforded the US government such powers?

Because, first of all, we know how young your country is. Second, kings and queens surely pardoned people all the time, no?
