What's the story with this ruler. It seems to be have markings for measuring up to 20.5cm of length, but it's labeled from 10 to 30. Why does it not start from zero?
It used to be 30 cm long, but I shortened it and rounded the corners. I had to cut off the first 10 cm rather than the 20โ30 cm section, because otherwise I'd lose the markings for the first few millimetres when I grind the corner.
Makes perfect sense! The sharp corners on most rulers like this aren't very pocket-friendly.
We do not ask about the compact ruler. We don't even acknowledge it's there.
There's a French First Empire joke in here somewhere.

Ruler starts a 0, markings start at 10. A bit like how some cars speedos start at 10.
As for the othet end, did you mean 30.5?
The roads might be safer if we marked speedos like this
