I hope so too. But honestly, I think what is clear is that Colbert has a lot of reverence for LoTR. So, he just might.

eh, every time i've heard him show off his expertise, it turned out he knew less than me and i'm nowhere near an expert.
he's definitely read the silmarillion (probably a few times at least) but that alone isnt much.
He can list all the names of Aragorn, Elessar, called Elfstone! Call me when he's talking about the recurring themes of 'The Machine' which destroys all beauty and life for power and profit

Damn, I was hoping I wouldn't come back to a comment like this. I suppose it's a given in the metal community, lot of cool people, but a lot of shitheads too.
It was a two-album side project that combined members of Blind Guardian and Iced Earth (called "Demons and Wizards"), and in Hansi's defense, it wasn't widely known that Schaffer was a megaCHUD at the time. I don't know of any other Hansi-adjacent controversy beyond that, but I haven't exactly gone looking either.
