Nah. It's about the person speaking. If I'm talking (as a German to a German) about the USA, I'm talking in German even though the subject is an English speaking country.
Imagine if a Brit had to write "color" only when he wrote about the colours of the US flag. Or "couleur" if he wrote about the colours if the french flag.

In some forms of English, paedo is the correct spelling. It's a colour/color thing.
To be fair, it's a US coin, it's reasonable to use US spelling when describing it. Unless you want to take it off our hands, that is...?
