I am once again pointing impatiently to the first several sentences of the 1956 internal CIA memo entitled "Comments on the change in Soviet leadership", which says, verbatim:

Even in Stalin's time there was collective leadership. The western idea of a dictator within the communist setup is exaggerated. Misunderstandings on that subject are caused by lack of comprehension of the real nature and organization of the communist power structure. Stalin, though holding wide powers, was merely the captain of a team

The arrogance it takes to assume what people who have studied more than you think when you yourself are operating in complete ignorance of the facts. Perfectly liberal of you.
