spoilerLast Sunday I rode my electric bicycle to town to see my wife during her work shift. It was a warm day out and had just rained. I work 3rd shift, so it meant staying up a little late (for me), but it was totally worth it. We live in a rural area, so it was just under fifteen minutes there through the countryside. Not a whole lot of traffic, but there are a lot of hills to climb. I have a decent bike though, so they're not bad at all.

I have epilepsy. That's why my ebike really has given me back my life. The rural area I live in has trapped me at home for the most part, having to ask my wife to take me everywhere. I go to work and I go home. So when I rode to see her last weekend, as we were sitting and talking, it suddenly struck me... wow, I feel kind of like a person again!

In case anyone is wondering, I have a Lectric XPeak 2.0 High Step with a long-range battery. I'm a taller guy so I needed a bigger bike.

I honestly really like it so far. I've put around 56 miles on it over the winter, with off and on short rides when it's warm enough. I plan on riding it a lot more when spring rolls around. I haven't actually run the battery all the way down, so I'm not entirely sure what the range is, but I plan on using it to commute to work so I figured I needed it.

Also, just so you know, I've cleared all of this with my neurologist. I do have a solid safety plan, and I do wear all of the safety equipment. I keep my bike limited to class 2 because I'd rather not ride over 20mph, to be honest. I've also spent probably way too long researching the laws for my state. I know them all, for bicycles and ebikes. It's another reason I stay limited to class 2.

People like me need them for mobility. My disability isn't bad enough to stop me from working, but it is bad enough to stop me from driving, and that really sucks.

I really just thought I'd share. It was so fun!

Ride safely, folks!

tldr; I have epilepsy and I feel like my ebike has saved me.
