The personal company isn't very safe. I knew it can be problematic one day. I was right. The leak exposed approximately 1 billion records of personal data from 26 countries including Canada.

  • Full names
  • Addresses
  • Dates of birth
  • National IDs
  • Phone numbers
  • Email addresses

The data was left unsecured. I'm very disappointed in WS security and privacy policy.

Wasn't this startup also funded by a Peter Thiel VC fund?

I don't use my WS account for much. Maybe it's time to kill it. I do really like Simple Tax which WS acquired though...

I still have funds in WS and can't close all of my accounts right now. The stocks aren't well. I'm considering keeping them until mid-2027. I really liked Simple Tax, but the original team now runs Better Tax. I'm not using the service anymore. StudioTax offers maximum privacy and can save files locally. Wealthsimple tax is cloud. Studiotax is local save.

Maybe I should do StudioTax this year. Didn't know abt Better Tax! It appears that it can save to a local file. Still not as private as StudioTax but nice.
