What was "power dynamics" about? I mostly just remember the "AOC did what the unions wanted"/"rank and file"
The thread started from a reference when Hasan Piker dated a 19 year old intern at TYT when he was 26 years old. The thread was about how appropriate age gaps were in relationships, with the implication that people who date or have sex with people younger than them are quasi-pedophilic. This is because the elder in the relationship has significant life and social experience to manipulate and exploit younger people, or manipulate their partner through financial dependence.
Hence, the power dynamics of the relationship make it inappropriate and leans into sexual predatory behavior.
(On my personal opinion, however, I've met people and children of such people who have an age gap of a decade or more; those couples or their parents met at 25/41, 28/56, 31/44, or 22/35. Because of that, I think it matters more of the emotional maturity, financial independence, and social stability/connections outside the relationship of both people involved and those relationships tend to have nuance to it. I would agree that it's inappropriate and creepy for people to date legal teenagers after the age of 23-24 though.)
Here is the thread in question if you want to take a peek: https://hexbear.net/post/233800
Thanks for clearing that bit of lore up for me comrade.
