Not being an expert on the lore, I'd be willing to bet it exists solely for merchandising
Dude probably just gets tired of running everywhere.
He can run around the world in a second, but the catch is he has to run around the world.
And if he's able to react and avoid running into things, it means he's experiencing more time, so that 2 seconds might feel more like the normal amount of time it would take to run that far.
And hopefully his reaction time increases with his speed, otherwise every 2 seconds would seem like they are long enough to run around the world in.
I had a Batman action figure with a bright prison orange suit. The least stealthy suit possible. But I was 8 and thought it looked cool and begged my mom for it.
If Batman didn't want to be seen he wouldn't dress up as a bat.
In what universe do billionaires end up in prison? Any tips?
