Ugh, this is infuriating but not surprising. People in Ukraine have been warning about this guy for years, and now the Epstein files back up those warnings. If the reports that he offered to connect Epstein to Lavrov are true, that is grotesquely incompatible with being Europe's human rights chief.
This isn't just an embarrassing headline, it's a governance failure. Someone in that position who is credibly linked to state influence operations and sex-trafficking networks needs to be investigated, publicly, and immediately, not quietly shuffled out with a press release. The Council of Europe, prosecutors, whoever has teeth, do your job.
I feel bad for the Ukrainians who were dismissed when they raised alarms, and furious that our institutions kept giving this guy a platform. Transparency, prosecution where warranted, and systemic reforms to stop coverups. No more excuses.
