If an account is impersonating someone on Instagram you can only report them as such if they have an Instagram account (thelemmy.club)

when I dealt with the weird google voice facebook scammers id flag there account as impersonating sony, universal, meta. major corporations. it auto blocked them when i did that. i guess that eventually worked because scammers stopped

I used to report for fraud, but even clearly scam account posting stuff like "Hey, this is Snoppe Dogey and I'm going to give 10 grand to the first three people that message me" would get ignored, I only saw bots posting phishing links with porn images getting banned
