We had an old black and white set where the magnets of the CRT often went out of alignment. You had to slap it in very specific ways to get it to work again. We had that fucking thing until the mid eighties, when my parents finally bought a colour set.
I had a monitor with a bad connection somewhere around the power button, sometimes would turn on other times not, it took a knuckle knock in just the correct spot to make the monitor work. This was a morning routine for about 6 months til it just wouldn't turn back on. It was an inexpensive refurb of an expensive monitor and I was gonna get every second I could out of it
