Hm, interesting. The website at least doesn't look to me like it's Canadian:
Of course it could still be, and email privacy is of course endangered by many other things. However, if someone does go through the hassle of shifting everything to a different email account, I would say best make sure to get a safe distance from the US right off the bat.
I think it's similar with buyvm.net which is definitely Canadian, but I'm looking into it.
