What is the general view of Saddam Hussain? (lemmygrad.ml)

This question has been nagging me for some time as I've heard different things about him from different people(some say he was a tyrant, some that he was not) and I can't post it on reddit.

What do people think when they hear his name.

Tyrant. Removing him was no excuse for what the US and allies did to Iraq and it's people though, especially considering they made him who he was
