Help installing and using ydotool in Wayland Ubuntu
(lemmy.world)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Reading through the comments, it seems like you've got ydotool working, but it may not have all the capabilities you want. I created a tool that seems like it could do everything you need, it has a couple of prerequisites, but it runs as a python script and doesn't require super user to work.
If you wanted to give it a go, I'd be happy to help as much as I can; I use it daily on Debian 12 with Wayland, so I'm pretty confident it should work for you on Ubuntu. Admittedly, it's still rough around the edges, but it can definitely handle mapping 'Alt + E' to type an email address.
