As the title says, I would like to highlight that collaborative games are fundamentally solarpunk.

As a solarpunk who is very into boardgames and a longtime collector of collaborative games, I would like to highlight the often-missed benefit of collaborative games: they teach us how to organize in a manner that is fundamentally based on principles of mutual-aid.

This is in and of itself solarpunk, as we are learning how to live in a different, and better, society than the competative based one we currently inhabit. Collaboration is something which we need to learn in order to reach a sustainable society both for humans and with earth. In the process we unlearn competition, a form of organizing which is kneeded into us after years of capitalism and "survival of the fittest" mentalities, from the market to the games we play in school and online.

Collaborative boardgames teach us how to exist and organize in ways which are fundamentally transformative and post-capitalism.

Can you share some examples of games you would consider especially worthwhile to try in that regard?

Absolutely!

The easiest one to pick up and also very interesting and fun is "The Mind". Another favorite that's a bit more complex but also has a lovely story setting is "Spirit Island", about chasing out colonizers. A collaborative game with a solarpunk theme about stopping climate change is Daybreak.

Board games, board games, board games.

This community is a general focused community around the topic of boardgames, tabletop roleplaying games, card games, and more.

In particular, we want to highlight any games that investigate themes around climate change, climate resiliency, ecology, or solarpunk (including projects in progress). As well as games that have been constructed with durable, ecologically friendly, less wasteful manufacturing, or are otherwise just groovy and thought provoking.
