Sometimes I wonder what happened to the Gays for Trump crowd. I hope some have changed course. But the ones I’ve been able to look in on seem to be caught in the denial step.

I was a high profile gay because I came out in school and they nearly killed me. Won the Mathew Shepard scholarship. Somehow since then my mom has drifted so rightward, she's supporting these assholes now. She told me she's a "member of the log cabin republicans" which is when I told her she's no longer welcome in queer spaces, and cut her off.

She used to be pro-choice. When Roe fell, she said "maybe that's a good thing." I'm 100% sure she'll say the same when Obergefell goes. Maybe Lawrence too. Walking back her rights, her son's rights is OK as long as brown people are getting hurt.

On X, they’re all just saying this is happening because of trans people.

Every time you think you know how dumb people are, they surprise you. And not in a good way.

[-] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago

They probably just blame trans people...

It is like the gays for Palestine.

The activist Rain Dove has been able to distribute aid directly to Palestinian refugees while presenting as openly queer, and did not have a negative experience. Yes there is significant stigma and suppression in that part of the world —but this is not unique to the Middle East. LGBT folks are unfortunately familiar with a certain degree of hatred against them, regardless of where they live. What matters, the common theme, is that they recognize mutual dehumanization, and have empathy and a desire to change that.

87% of aid given by Israel before the ceasefire was intercepted/stolen before it reached the distribution point. UN monitored and updated the figures on their web site daily.

UN refused to allow the IDF to deliver it because that would be politicizing aid apparently.

Seems odd that this gay person managed to deliver anything or was even allowed into Gaza.

I said this creator was giving aid to refugees. From, not in.
