Every time comments like this are posted they always completely fail to consider the multiple factors that contribute to a person being fat:

  • Living, financial and mental conditions
  • Eating disorders
  • Thyroid issues
  • Genetic predisposition
  • A person's own preferences

It is extremely important to research and prioritize non-weight loss treatment as many of the conditions that have been linked to being overweight can instead affect individuals within "healthy" BMI margins just as well. Failing to do so creates a great risk of mistreatment, where the actual culprit of that issue is not addressed and both reason and condition remains as the person lost weight.

This is not mentioning that weight loss can be easy for some and a nightmare for others, adding great stress on that person's mental wellbeing.

To simplify health to such a black and white difference is dangerous for everyone, not just fat individuals.

I just want to say thank you for your posts in this thread. I am upset by this person's ignorance, and I'm glad you're here to balance my view of humanity.

It is sad that being fat is viewed as a reason to openly hate that human. I know very well my views are not popular due to the general super oversimplification of the facts around this topic to "just lose weight". But I am glad to read someone out there appreciates them. Health is way too nuanced to allow just three words to fix every ailment.
