Holy shit, imagine being this triggered by someone not fitting into the hegemonic gender norms and concern-trolling about climate change and homelessness over it.
Bruh. You can just refer to non-binary folks by their preferred pronouns. Half the time enbies are quite comfortable with gendered pronouns and it's not as if there isn't a historical usage of singular-they which has been established in English usage going back to the 1300s.
If it's not a big deal and there are more pressing matters that the left needs to face then quit whining and just use people's preferred pronouns already instead of trying to turn this into some huge ideological war.
yeahhhhh but it's, like, totally differeeeeent when singular they is referring to a generic or unknown person 😭😭😭😭😭 singular they for specific, known persons only dates to the 2000s 😭😭😭😭😭 i literally can't call someone they if i know their name or else i will pissé pant 😭😭😭😭😭
(※based on a real argument I heard)
It's true.
Everyone does the best that ~~they~~ he or she can although when it comes to pronouns it becomes hard for ~~them~~ him or her to do the absolute minimum and ~~they~~ he or she definitely wouldn't unintentionally use third person they in ~~their~~ his or her speech because that would confuse and infuriate ~~their~~ his or her audience.
That used to tick me off even going back to elementary school
