Boss crams 16 beloved effects into the convertible PX-1 Plugout FX

Boss has ushered in a new era for its compact effects pedal catalog by unveiling the PX-1 Plugout FX – a ‘convertible’ stompbox that lets players load up and play through a generous range of the firm’s legendary effects from one unit.
It’s an interesting move from Boss, whose collection of compact effects pedals is the stuff of guitar legend, from the OD-1 – deemed by many as one of the most important stompboxes of all time – to the CE-2, which took over the guitar world upon its release.
Now, with the PX-1, guitarists can browse, upload, and play through many of those popular effects through the convenience of a single stompbox, which carries the same visual and functional layout of a standard compact Boss pedal.
The Waza Air headphones app is really poor and there’s no forum or useful way to find out about problems. Boss should stick to hard wear.
As I understand it, the only thing the app for this pedal does is update the firmware. The pedal internalize a whole signal chain or anything like that, it just emulates the one selected pedal with full settings control via the knobs.
Ok, I guess we’ll see. I hope so.
The headphones are similar in that once things (6 tones) are on the headphones, they’re there for good and unproblematic. But the majority of the options are through the app, which is glitchy, has a clumky user interface and dislikes changing devices (low-end version of Bluetooth?).
