Solarpunk imagines a world in which today’s existential threat - the climate crisis - is being approached with camaraderie and adaptive ingenuity.
Really cool! But the pessimist in me wonders how quickly this would be destroyed by random people who have no respect for public property.
Also how well it would hold up in a cold snap. Would be fairly limited to warm climates I imagine but even warm climates get a few days of freezing temperatures occasionally.
many microalgae species are surprisingly cold-tolerant, and these systems could incorporate antifreeze compounds or circulating warm water for winter operation - some arctic microalgae even thrive at near-freezing tempratures!
