So I assume the old one is going under soon?

Because around here people would boycott the place, as not implementing reserved seating is literally just a ploy to make people sit through commercials and show up early to spend money in the lobby.

It has literally nothing to do with modernization, tech, cost, etc. as traditional theaters had assigned seating two centuries ago.

It will definitely get fewer people now. I don't think it will go away yet because it's attached to a museum and it shows educational stuff and documentaries as well, so movies aren't the only income of the establishment. People in the central and south area of the city are still closer to it than the new one as well, unless they're willing to drive an additional 40-45 mins. The reserved seating might be enticing enough for some to be willing to make the drive though. People in the north side of town, me included, will definitely gravitate towards the new one.

But yes, no reservations in this day and age is so dumb. I had to show up 2 hours early for the first Dune so I can be among the first 30 people to get in.
