When did this idea that calling your senator was the way to get things accomplished start lol

It doesn't make any sense, they have no fucking like responsibility to answer phone calls or read letters. I'd assume the shit just goes to a burner voicemail or, at best, a staffer deletes them all once a week after listening for 2 seconds
