Isn't 30 > 15? permalink fedilink source hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] PhoreTwunny@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago (1 child) My guess is they probably previously had 1 or 2 15-minute paid breaks, and a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. But now they only get the unpaid break. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Madison420@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago Bingo. Lots of states have an optional set of 15 minute breaks that are in my state often referred to as smoking breaks because the Midwest is still in large part stuck in 1910. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 6 points 1 year ago (1 child) The 15 minute breaks were paid. Now they are only getting the mandatory 30 minute paid break for lunch (which they only have to do if you work over 5 hours in a shift). They still get the legally mandated 15 minute breaks; they just aren't paid for it. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 1 point 1 year ago (1 child) You get mandatory 30 min paid breaks? For me it's unpaid lol. Scheduled for 5 hours, no 30 minutes necessary. Scheduled for 5.5 hours, you get 30 minute unpaid break so you are there for longer but make the same amount of money permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 point 1 year ago* I'm in California, so I get paid breaks, but unpaid lunch. It still comes out to the same as the employees of the place in the meme, really. 🤷♂️ Still getting an hour of time not working; only getting paid for 30 minutes of that time. permalink fedilink source parent
