First commissioned during the age of steam travel, Queen Victoria was a regular user of the train, frequently updating it to suit her tastes. For her Diamond Jubilee in 1897, she was given a new royal train of six coaches. Her eldest son, the Prince of Wales, and his wife, the Princess of Wales, were also given their own coaches. In 1901, Queen Victoria's coffin was conveyed to Windsor via the train, where she was buried.
