Inching closer to the capitalist reality where you don't voluntarily buy things, people show up at your house with guns and force you to buy their goods.
nah, it'll always be veiled behind a system of abstracted punishments for subversive, antisocial, and neglectful consumer habits, threatening exile from a position of comfort and privilege while promising reward for good behavior. that way it maintains the illusion of voluntary participation and meritocracy.
It's kind of already that way with insurance.
