Was this posted in 2020...? Because by that time I already felt the world was going onto a steep downward spiral. Already before 2019 we had people saying "this has to be the worst year", only for the next year to out-do it, and in 2019 it got so bad memes started circulating the Web that joked about 2020 being 2019 2: The Sequel Reboot.
Then COVID-19 happened...
And we sort of just stopped counting how many consecutive "worst year ever" we had... People became numb as it became the norm...
So... No... No 2020 was not a more hopeful and innocent time.
The joke is that is was posted long before.
As to "worst year"? I quit counting "warmest winter" several years ago. And that's anecdotal, just my experience in NW Florida. Yet no one around here notices.
