The ones on Bloor west of Runnymede at least made some sense because of the loud minority in Etobicoke who hated them. The rest have been around longer, and I don't see what votes he's winning by doing it.

Agreesd, Ford is going to push lots of Toronto even further away from the cons with this move. It only pleases the outer suburbs, even though it worsens their commute by forcing more people to drive and add to the car traffic.

The loud minority was shooting Bloor West in the foot. The Bloor West BIA used to oppose bike lanes until they changed their minds after they went in and saw the positive impacts. They are now defending them, backed by several economic impact studies which found that 90% of customers arrived by foot, bicycle, or transit. This is consistent with similar situations around the world.

Turning the bike lane back into roadside parking and short sections of car lanes before the next chokepoint will be bad for business and cost lives.
