This happens to me all the time. I listen to something and it gets stuck in my head, sometimes for weeks. It's worst when it's not just a single song, but an album: one song gets stuck, and I listen to the album, then a different song from the album gets stuck so I listen to the album, then another. I haven't figured out how to break the chain; if I don't listen to the song, it just stays in my head. Rarely if I listen to other music, something else will replace it, but as often as not the original worm is what I wake up to.
What triggers it, often, is just randomly listening to my library, and one of the old songs becomes a brain worm. For instance, I just could not get rid of BLACKPINK songs - I am certainly not a K-Pop fan, I think a couple of BLACKPINK songs are the only K-Pop in my library. But for the past 3 weeks it's been Tegan and Sara's The Con. Just one damned song from the album after another, and I wake up with a random line running through my head. This has been the worst one in a long time. A couple of months ago, it was all three songs from the Buster Scruggs segment of The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Those cycle around a couple of times every year, but I can usually listen then out after a few times.
So: every song I like, is probably the short answer. I stop listening because I've heard it enough, then out pops into my head months or years later and I listen to it a bunch.
This is everyone, isn't it?
