  • Brush: Wolf Whiskers "Gianmaria" w/Maggard 26mm Synthetic

  • Razor: Union Razor Cutlery 5/8 Full Hollow (2)

  • Lather: Australian Private Reserve - Raconteur - Soap

  • Post Shave: Australian Private Reserve - Raconteur - Aftershave

  • Post Shave: Dove - Men+Care Ultra-Hydra - Cream

The above SOTD was formatted by a new project that has consumed me for way too long the past couple of days... I saw something online about something called "Baserow", and it sent me down this path. It's a neat piece of kit that combines a database and a simple front end. So, I put my shaving items into the database, and created a dropdown picker that gets formatted into the standard format.

It's complex and was frustrating to set up, and I have work to do to make it more mainstream (like adding a field for a SOTD picture, blade uses, etc.), but it's at a good stopping point for today.

In the future I'd like to refine it and look into how to make this a template that other people can use. Right now you could go to baserow.io, open a free account, and get to work making your own, but I'm telling you... it's a process. If I can figure out how to make a template that people could import, it might catch on. ShavingInCT maintains https://wetshavingdatabase.com/ and he mentioned that maintaining the SOTD function is a bit of a burden. This has potential, and has some benefits over the WSDB.

Behind the scenes it presents itself as a spreadsheet, but also has database type filtering, sorting, etc. For example, I like to keep track of all soaps that have come and gone (even smushes), but once they're gone I can mark them as "killed" or "sold", etc. Only things that I still have (which are marked as "In Den", get shown in the dropdown menu.

This link might work, but no guarantees if you want to check it out. This only gives you access to the SOTD picker, not the database and all that stuff (which is behind a login). https://sotd.selfhost.ing/

Congratulations! It's not exactly an editor plugin, but it's a start ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

@[email protected] โ€“ where's your project for computer-assisted SOTD creation?

It's, uhmm, BETTER! than a plugin.

I can access it from anywhere in the world which is good since I travel for work.

I just cobbled together auto-increasing blade count on a per-blade basis, so...

I think it counts if you can frame a browser as an internet editor.
