Many want to diversify away from the dollar, which they believe will weaken even further under the weight of the soaring U.S. debt.

US Dollar will weaken due to self inflicted wounds and other countries not wanting to accumulate Dollars, it won't be because of the national debt.

The rich want a hedge against erosion of real financial wealth that is incoming.
