Nope. If Harvard is so awesome, then I’m sure they can do just fine without federal funding.
That's what passes for political discourse here? I can dismiss your nope as easily as I can the zero evidence you bring. Do better.
This is political pressure, applied illegally, because anti-DEI viewpoints are so unpopular they can't be bought for $~10B.
This is prime snowflake territory.
This isn't a college class. It's a fucking internet forum. I don't have to have political discourse with references, and proof and citations.
You seem like the snowflake here. If you don't like this community, then please feel free to start you own. And in your community, you can have rules for "political discourse" and make sure that the only people who respond have proof and citations and references.
Be the change you wanna see, guy!
And if Harvard is so awesome, then they can do just fine without political funding. :)
A few comments in and I'm already being told to make my own community. Why are you so scared to talk with me? The insults, the "it's just a forum", you attack me and not my ideas, it's like you hardly believe in anything.
Be the change that you wanna be, guy! I'm not scared at all. I just told you I don't have to have deep political discourse with you.
So what's your community gonna be called? Maybe when I am in the mood for political discourse with references and citations, I can post there.
No personal attacks. No one is my sock puppet.
One thing I would add to this is, this is a conservative community, so if a user is not a conservative leaning individual, why waste ones time there calling them various names or terms within said community? I get that you might disagree with a post, and you have the right to voice your ons.
Now if this person was posting this on a community unrelated to this, I could see people getting upset over that there. But this community is dedicated to conservative content. If you feel like you have to personally attack people in a community, maybe it's just better to just let it be. Or to just report it if you feel that it's justified to do so.
Your post sounds more it was directed to BowlingforBowls, the person who was upset and name-calling. I responded to that person for the attack and removed their comment. I was merely quoting what they said. BowlingforBowls was the user who said it.
I agree with you. And BowlingforBowls DOES just come here to troll. I'm fine with it being open to all, but the reason I gave him a warning was to let him know he'd get banned if he kept it up.
I feel giving them a chance and a warning first is the best way to go. Lots of Lemmy poster are mad that conservative communities even exist on Lemmy. So I want it to be open to all so hey know we are not raving lunatics.
But I definitely ban if people act up after a warning.
You are free to stay. I never asked you to leave. I merely mentioned that if you are that concerned, you could always start your own community where political discourse is a rule and not an exception.
You are totally free to stay. And I am totally free not to have to explain anything to you unless I feel like it.
How so?
Last warning. Comment removed for personal attacks. Do it again, you get banned. See rules in sidebar.
Just because you don't agree with someone, doesn't mean there's some grand conspiracy going on.
Dude, hardly anyone even visits this comm. Calm down.
Is the mod aware of this?!
Is there a time we have to be on Lemmy before we can post what we want to communities we want to post to? I didn't see that guideline when I signed up.
I don't know what that means. What is a DJM? I looked in the altcoin communities but I didn't find that acronym. Or is it a lemmy thing?
What fascist things have I said or done? Be sure to look up the definition before you answer.
I don't know what that means. What bot armies are on Lemmy? I thought that crap was for Reddit. What are you talking about?
Ok. I guess you can report whatever you want, but I haven't posted anything against any rules. So what would the server admins be "aware" of?!
Who are these server admins names that you spoke to? I haven't been contacted by anyone. And what clean up are you referring to?
Sure, but then your statement barely holds any weight.
There is a valid concern being brought here. Pulling funding out is a classic way the government pressures institutions into complying with anything. Sure, Harvard can do on its own, but the more funding is pulled out, the harder it will become to manage balances long-term and the more Harvard falls down the ratings, while other better-funded institutions take over.
Higher education spaces have always been the breeding ground for opposition, and this is good. People protesting unpopular decisions is one of the checks and balances of the democratic system, and this part is being aggressively bulldozed. This is authoritarianism and dismantling of the core democratic values of the American society - something conservatives must be concerned about.
