Had no idea how truly huge some of these pickups are now days until I started loading them at Lowe's. Plenty of reasons to need a powerful truck in America, particularly for contractors and the like, but fuck me.

My 2004 F150 is tiny compared to these monsters and I can do whatever. Hell, I towed a 20" boat with my Eclipse convertible, I think a normal pickup can tow about whatever. My next vehicle will almost surely be a small pickup.

Nah, even for contracters there are far more practical options like the Ford Transit and Mercedes Sprinter style vehicles. The current Ford F-150, Dodge RAM, Cybertruck and so on are just impractical and a safety hazard to everyone else. You literally can't see children in the driveway ahead of you. And most people who drive them aren't even contractors.

Not familiar with the other two, but throwing the Cybertruck in there seems disingenuous. I wouldn't rate it as a working truck, under any definition. One of these things is not like the other...

20' a 20" boat would be hilarious to tow but not particularly impressive.

And there are SO MANY of them. I swear it’s like every other car on the road here in Colorado. You work in an office, Larry, you don’t need that stupid thing.

They all drive like psychos too.

Here in Europe, only craftsmen and gardeners maybe need a pickup, but otherwise it is highly impractical here.

The big problem is that some people egos don't fit into a normal sized car.

I'd love you to see what I load and compare to European trucks! The guys in lumber load some scary shit on "regular" trucks. The other night I was helping and the truck owner and my boss were like, "Yeah. Let's just stop and you can come back."

Guessing in Europe monster loads get moved by even bigger trucks, purpose built?

When spending time with my relatives in Vietnam told me one thing, then it is this: You don't need a truck to haul impressive amounts of stuff, you don't even need a station wagon... hell, you don't even need a CAR! A 125 ccm Honda moped with an determined rider can transport amzing loads of stuff.

Yes, purpose built. There aren't many uses for pickup trucks here when you can just get a normal 7.5 tonne truck. For an F350, you need a truck license in Europe anyways since it exceeds 3.5 tonnes. (yes curb weight is slightly below, but you exceed it as soon as you have more than just the driver.
