I think, everybody living in former Eastern block countries, in former East Germany, in former Germany in the 1930s/40s has a story of someone being gone after telling the wrong joke a little too loud. Sometimes they came back but they were different. Often they didn't. There are many nerds and script kiddies who are well connected and who have little troubles to make your life less happy.
