Das passiert nur wenn ich Bilder hochlade, welche ich mit dem iPhone aufgenommen habe. Im HEIF Format.

Kurz geguckt, die eigentlich erste Wahl für Bilder, magick, unterstützt es ohne Probleme.

Das kann ich aber auch ohne Probleme uploaden ( torvaldsnvidia-640x424 ). Ich denke mal, Apple hat einfach noch mal extra irgendein unnötiges, nur von ihnen benutztes Format im Container. Aber bis entweder die EU Apple quasi zum Standard von Android/Linux zwingen, oder einfach alle Apple User zu Android wechseln, wird es diese Probleme immer geben. Denn selber wird Apple sicher nicht open source Prokekte mit ihrem Bullshit kompatibel machen - würde ja ne Lücke in die Wand ihres Walled Gardens machen.

HEIF ist wohl ein 2015 von der MPEG als ISO 23008-12 eingeführter Standard für Bilddateien.

Von daher ist es eher umgekehrt: Apple spielt mal wieder den Vorreiter, Microsoft kam als nächstes, Google ist gerade in der Adaptationsphase und die FOSS-community ist irgendwo dazwischen.
