one tactic is for him to serve as VP under someone else who promises to resign to allow Trump to serve again

According to the 12th amendment, "no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States."

This seems pretty plain to me: if you can't serve as president, you also can't serve as vice president. Of course, this has never been tested in court...

That's interesting. When I was reading the Constitution, I didn't read it the same way. I thought that the basic rules (age, citizenship, etc.) were what applied since obtaining office and serving office were distinct in my mind. I like your reading better but I have a feeling SCOTUS wouldn't read it the same way you do.
