Idk, I look at US politics like kayfabe. When interest is waning (consent machine is failing, citizens are thinking organizing instead of voting, etc.) what better way to regain interest than by having the surprise comeback of a beloved character. Esp to sell the narrative that "that evil Trump has been defeated, all is right in the world and we can all breath a sigh of relief back at brunch"
