This guy right here has you covered.
A word of warning though, I played alternating between my beefy desktop and my steam deck, and the deck did admirable albeit at much lower settings. The only thing I simply could not play in handheld mode were street races. Frame rate and pop-in issues galore, it’s just too much for a little machine to process. Other than that the experience was great around 50fps.
I had it running at a pretty stable 60fps on Windows at 720p. I was hoping for a bit more out of Bazzite.
Linux isn’t going to magically make your hardware better. Occasionally there are mild FPS gains or losses from one OS to the next but it’s not going to be a game changer in performance.
It can be. Sea of Thieves for example ran at about 30fps on low settings at 720p on Windows on the Ally.
On Bazzite it's 60fos on medium at 1080p. I got similar gains with Forza Horizon 5.
Right on. That’s cool. I guess just don’t expect big uplifts in performance on every game then. But at least you’re not playing on spyware.
True, fuck Windows. Those two are at the more extreme end of performance gains. Most games I'm gaining 5 - 10fps. But I can now play all games (so far) at 1080p.
Thanks, I'll try these.
