I don't pay for microtransactions out of principle, yet I'm sure there's someone else who will not than make up for me. I honestly don't get it.

Streamers will.. devs don't make money on little Timmy that is allowed a $2 purchase. They make money on streamers that "I BUY EVERYTHING IN GAME X!" (Shocked face)

Yeah, streamers and whales are their biggest target, but in this article TakeTwo is saying they're going to target everyone else, meaning little Timmy's $2.

I don't understand the "whale" mentality, though I do kind of understand the streamer mentality since they're making money by being a place where viewers can see all of that optional content.

I think the term they use is 'whales'.

If 99% of their audience ignore them, they still make a bucket load of money because the 1% who can afford to spend the money, or have issues with self control more than make up for it.
