Because poker?
ah yes. I love going to the poker table and asking to buy various joker cards to increase my score.
why do they look at me funny when I ask for a planet card? Why arent they giving me a tarot card?
Wait why are there so many people at this table, I thought this was a solo game?
… what do you mean I have to wager real money? I just wanted to battle various blinds.
poker!
Yeah I don't see the point in the game it's like the worst of poker and doing math to buy cards? But people absolutely love it which I can dig.
i love balatro
Serious question, What exactly is it that you find so enjoyable what am I missing?
I enjoy the challenge of the game. its not easy. When you do well, you get big scores. but i also just plough through tons of clearly losing builds cause i am bad at the game.
its the sort of game you have to play a lot to make progress/understand synergies but the games are also pretty short so its not a huge time sink
Everything about the game is satisfying to play
I haven't played the game but I seen some gameplay and I can see that appeal of finding a synergy or pattern of execution that you can play for big rolls but aside from that, it is quick, flashy and seemingly has enough variety to complement the art style
it's the same thrill as vampire survivors or other run-based games with compounding bonuses. when you find a new synergy and your numbers start exploding, that's a good dopamine hit.
I loved vampire survivors I can see gems swirling when I close my eyes...
