I'll never understand that debate. They are totally different shows. If you're looking for another A:TLA, you'll be disappointed.
You'll might disagree, but, IMO, it works the same *the other way around*.
TLOK even pokes at it a bit in season 2 when Tenzin is talking with Aang about how he feels like he's not living up to what Aang was. "You are not me, and you should not try to be me. You are Tenzin."
