Could be. But considering spikes after API elimination from Reddit I bet it's a hugely mobile crowd. I myself am a nearly exclusive mobile user. Desktop lemmy is a pretty dismal experience at present I'm sorry to say.
How so? I jumped on to Lemmy from mobile but the desktop experience seems pretty fine to me so far.
Try alexandrite, it's a web frontend for any instance that looks great.
I am too, but moreso because my phone is always there and takes zero time to set up. My computer needs a place to rest, and I can't pull it out while I'm waiting on a train or in line at a counter. I prefer the desktop experience, but 90% of my lemmy usage is mobile. When the computer comes out, it's usually for work.
