Shit's about to pop off, but we don't know exactly what the orders are yet. I figure we could collect them in a single post and discuss as they come out.

Cartels designated as terrorist organizations. Someone just asked if he might send special forces to Mexico, he said "stranger things have happened".

Declaration of national emergency on the southern boarder.

On the one hand, it'd be so fucking funny if they made a JFK sequel but on the other that'd be yet another crime for the CIA to get away with while they blame the USSR China for it

Anything to read about cartels and the alphabets?

Hmm, I think starting with the getaway plane for the Kiki Camarena affair should get you started on the rabbit hole of the cia. The origins of the Zeta cartel is also a starting point.

The CIA as Organized Crime by Douglas Valentine or Operation Gladio by Paul L. Williams are good overviews

Oh, the Valentine book goes into Mexican cartels? Cool!

I've been meaning to read it anyway, thanks!

Oh sorry I thought you meant criminal cartels in general, not just the Mexican ones. They're mentioned a little in the Valentine book but only in passing for Gladio. If you can get the translation, Los Señores del Narco does go into a bit more detail and I haven't read it but La CIA, Camarena y Caro Quintero by Esquivel apparently goes into it.
