I'm reminded of someone making a comment just like this to Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine....

One: When you pick up a guitar, you don’t put down your First Amendment rights.

Two: When people tell you to shut up and play guitar or complain that artists are speaking out – it’s only because they disagree with what you’re saying. That’s not complicated.

I'd also note that quite a bit of the music out there, throughout history, has been political.

I'd also point out that by your own position on this, you too should stfu about politics.
