Laptops get until April 2026 to comply, but most other things—phones, tablets, handheld gaming devices, computer accessories, and wireless headphones—will have to be powered by USB-C to be sold inside the EU from now on. I think it's only a matter of time until phones with dual or triple USB-C start emerging. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 years ago I don't see how this has anything to do with blocking headphones w/ jacks, this only says wireless headphones have to be powered by USB-C. I've had wireless headphones that also have a jack so you can still use the headphones if the battery dies, and I also have headphones without power whatsoever and only work with a jack. permalink fedilink source parent [–] rockerface@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago I'm surprised those aren't around yet permalink fedilink source parent [–] Tlaloc_Temporal@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago The key part is that you can charge and listen at the same time. Two USB-C ports would be fine IMO, but no, fuck me, you get one port. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Reddfugee42@lemmy.world -3 points 2 years ago Dang, can't do those 80s cosplays justice without a headphone jack permalink fedilink source parent
