I tried not to make rules for this community but y'all wylin'. I'll keep it quick and to the point:

  1. Mildly biased headlines and articles are fine, but please do not share opinion pieces or strongly slanted articles here.

  2. Reporting content that does not break those rules prohibited.

  3. Baiting and drama farming is prohibited. If you're not sure whether or not you're in this category, ask yourself if what you're about to post or comment adds to the discussion of the topic at hand, or if you are trying to get a rise out of someone, make bad-faith accusations against one's character, etc. There's some leeway here because I have a sense of humor though, so don't let this rule scare you.

@realcaseyrollins
So all the worthless parasites can shrivel up up and disappear forever.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

@realcaseyrollins why do you want a bullshit pork roll?

What does the federal government do that you want to keep around?

[–] realcaseyrollins 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

National defense

Fight federal crimes

Collect taxes

Legislate

Negotiate with foreign governments

Set economic policies

There's a lot the federal government does that it needs to continue doing! I feel like the "just shut it all down" people fall into the categories of:

  1. Enjoying chaos/wanting to watch the world burn

  2. Disgruntled libertarians who are mad that the government is too big (they're right BTW)

  3. Trump shills

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

@realcaseyrollins @Sirpantangelini they can stay out of economic policy as far as I'm concerned.

Also, there are far too many federal crimes.

And our international policy for several administrations has been "give us your shit or we'll bomb you into the ground and take it ". Let's have less of that please.

@chromeratt @realcaseyrollins

My responses just got eaten by the internet.

I'm all for a fair tax federally.
Solely tariffs and a flat tax on new products.

If a heroin addict is forced to be clean for 6 months because they are on an island with no heroin, that's ultimately good for them, even if they go back.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

@chromeratt @realcaseyrollins

Most of your responses are vague and resemble an addict explaining their need for, whatever they are addicted to.

Like... legislate laws...

Come on dude, you are better than that.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

@Sirpantangelini @realcaseyrollins and most of the "laws" were made by the department of X, Y or Z of the executive branch. If the Congress actually had to write and vote on ALL the rules, there would be far fewer of them.

So yeah, keep funding all the things you said (minus economic policy) and let the others chill for a while. There's some savings for you.

@Sirpantangelini @realcaseyrollins And if those people working at the Department of Something or Other are really doing valuable work, they should be able to find work in the private sector.

@chromeratt @Sirpantangelini @realcaseyrollins

Lefties often praise taxing but then they try to do all their business in a way to avoid any taxation.

Me, I think all taxation is theft.

And since nearly all taxes are used to pay interest to dajews privately owned banks to get new joden confetti I wonder if the whole taxation thing isn't just a scam?

[–] realcaseyrollins 0 points 2 days ago

Oh good grief. SMH. Changing policy is not the same as ragequitting governing!

None of these issues are solved by shutting down the government, they will only be fixed by new reforms and new legislation, AFTER the government is up and running again.

@realcaseyrollins

National defense, tell me about those drones

Fight federal crimes, yes, fund the fbi.....

Collect taxes. Disband the irs and end the income tax please

Legislate. What, legislate what, this is a retard answer

Negotiate with foreign governments. Ohh yes, to pay for drinking club dates that end in bombing kids, great, love it

Set economic policies.
MORE INFLATION.

These are such great reasons.
So great you are correct in saying people like me are right

Try again.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

@realcaseyrollins

You could've at least made me sound like a monster by saying benefits for losers.
And then I could say let them learn to swim or drown.

If I were mike Johnson, I'd be playing extreme hardball.
I'd start the negotiations at 6 months of government shutdown unless they agree to single bills.

And then just shut it down until they cave.

I'd start the negotiations at 6 months of government shutdown unless they agree to single bills.

And then just shut it down until they cave.

Now that's what I'm down with. Just don't shut down the government in pursuit of vague disgruntlements.

National defense, tell me about those drones

How is defunding the federal government supposed to help us stop the drones again?

Fight federal crimes, yes, fund the fbi.....

While the FBI is corrupt, they do also fight and stop legitimate crimes and criminals.

Disband the irs and end the income tax please

I want to replace the income tax with a national sales tax on digital purchases, personally, but that necessitates an IRL to collect that money still.

legislate what

Laws, mostly

Negotiate with foreign governments. Ohh yes, to pay for drinking club dates that end in bombing kids, great, love it

Again, how is defunding the government supposed to make any of that better?

Set economic policies. MORE INFLATION.

Or less, depending on what the federal government chooses to do with that power. In any case, will shutting down the government stop inflation?

See this is what I'm talking about. Almost none of what you're upset about is actually improved by a government shutdown. At best, it's just paused, and will pick back up again once the government funding resumes.
