Good morning fellow sobernauts, IWNDWYT 😁!

We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!

Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.

Maybe you’re new to c/stop drinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, let’s not drink alcohol!

I will not drink with you today! But for those struggling and silent and just reading:

I’ve been struggling too.

I crashed at my two year mark this summer.

And life has gotten harder, short term I hope.

I talked to my doctor this week and starting naltrexone.

Do NOT be ashamed if you can’t do it alone.

I'm sorry you're struggling but I'm glad you're seeking extra help.

I've said it before but don't try harder, try different - extra supports, different supports. By that I mean:

If religious AA doesn't work, try secular AA or SMART recovery or Recovery Dharma.
If 0.5% beers put you at risk of relapsing, avoid them. There's lots of interesting craft sodas and other things to try these days instead.
Talk to your doctor about medical support, about referrals to therapy, about anything else they can offer. And so on. 🫂
